Ravensburger Mini Memory Review

Brand new to Ravensburger is their Mini Memory range.

Mini Memory is a set of 48 high quality memory picture cards, making 24 pairs. The cards feature different images of children's favourite characters. The game play can be varied to suit different ages and abilities, such as using fewer cards for younger children, but children are able to pick this game up quickly and you'll find that they're much better than you at remembering where they saw the matching pairs, making it easier for them to beat you!

The Memory cards are made from sturdy high-quality card, laminated on both sides with a colour print. Each card measures approximately 5x5cm and are aimed at boys and girls from 3-5 years

With a choice from 7 different Mini Memory packs, there really is one for everyone. Choose from;
Hello Kitty
Minnie Mouse
Moshi Monsters
Thomas the Tank Engine
Mike the Knight
Cars 2

Much to my 5yr olds delight, we were sent a Hello Kitty Mini Memory pack. Just the right size and the right amount of cards, they're really easy for her to play with and I feel happy knowing she is improving her memory each time she plays. It's also a game where she can play alone, or with her sisters and brothers.

In fact they all like playing it together and although my 2yr old is still a little young, it's nice to watch the older two helping and encouraging her so that she can join in as well.

An ideal little stocking filler for Christmas or even as a birthday gift for a lucky boy or girl. I certainly recommend them to everyone.

Schleich Bayala Figurines Review

Welcome to Bayala, an enchanting and magical place where elves work and play alongside Pegasus, Unicorns and many other animals.

But something special is coming to Bayala...

New children elves, fantasy animals, horses and unicorns are joining this mystical world from Schleich and encouraging the imagination of children.

The magical elves of Bayala are already a fascination to girls and now there are some new additions to the range in the form of children. These new young elves join the mystical world from Schleich and line in Bayala together with Pegasus, unicorns and many other animals.

Graceful and playful, the young elves will inspire and delight the imagination. There's one extraordinary thing about them, they all have a special relationship with the natural plant world. Two favourites will be the Chestnut Elf who wears a skirt made of chestnut shells and another beautiful Magnolia elf child that wears a dress made of delicate magnolia blossom

Also new this year, the popular Princess Eyela rides through the country on her magical white horse she will be accompanied by two elves who gallop on their wonderful forest unicorns. And who knows, perhaps on their magical journey they may encounter the beautiful fantasy creature known as the Magical Asian being.

In the autumn, an Elf merry-go-round will further capture the imagination of children and will make an amazing centre piece to any treasured Bayala display.

The Bayala figurines from Schlech are magical and are sure to delight any little girl. The detail is lifelike and you can almost imagine them dancing around the garden under a full moon!
Much to my 7yr old's delight, she received a Bayala Elf Wedding Scenery Pack. The figures in the Scenery pack can be put together with the accessories to create a lively, pictorial scene and each set contains a specially designed article which cannot be bought separately. The breathtakingly beautiful bride and groom are looking forward to their special day and have a special guest, a captivating flower elf in her pretty pink dress will transform the path from the wedding ceremony to the reception into a sea of flowers.

She was also sent Pegasus, a magnificent white stallion with wings.  In Bayala there are so many wonderful and rate creatures. The noblest animals in this world are winged horses. One moment they are grazing peacefully on the bank of the elf stream, the next instant they stretch out their powerful wings and vanish with a few beats of their wings on the horizon. Only truly select elves may ride along on their backs.

The figurines are glittery which is perfect for any little girl and with intricate details.  Meticulously handpainted with true-to-life modelling and made with a type of plastic, meaning they are tougher than traditional china figurines, opening them up to be played with, rather than just adored from afar safe inside their boxes!

My 7yr old fell in love with this figurines. What little girls doesn't like playing weddings and here she was with her own bride and groom elf, complete with Pegasus as a guest of honour! The problem is she loves them so much, she doesn't want to take them out of the box and she wants to collect all the pieces!

With so many fabulous and fantastic figurines to collect, she is in her element and has already written a list of which ones she wants to add to her collection so that she can display them with pride in her bedroom!

Remember to check out Schleich's Bayala website where you can discover more about Bayala and discover a map of Bayala and see the figurines in their magical surroundings.

Technokit Rivetz Racer Review

The Technokit range from Interplay is about to introduce an innovative and fresh new challenge for kids with the launch of the exciting new Techonokit Rivetz collection!

All boys love to build, so will be captivated by these new technology based kits, as they use the patented Rivetz Gun to snap and fix pieces of the pre-cut and decorated card together, to create projects such as a Dragon, a Giant Hornet or an awesome red, black and white Racer.

Each Rivetz kit contains highly coloured, glossy card, the Rivetz Gun and the all-important Rivetz that once fitted together, make giant sculptures for boys to be proud of. The unique thing about these kits is that the Rivetz Gun can also remove the Rivetz without damaging the card, so the sculptures can be taken apart and rebuilt with friends whenever they wish

Whether it's a one off project or a sculpture to be de-constructed again and again, the Dragon, Giant Hornet and Racer will make great features for any boy's bedroom and can be proudly displayed for many years to come.

We were sent a copy of the Rivetz Racer for my 9 year old son to try out and review. The box contains;
1 Techonokit Rivetz Gun
56 Technokit Rivetz Rivets
56 Technokit Rivetz Rivet Centres
29 Printed Card Pieces
Instruction Manual

The Rivetz Racer is designed as being suitable for ages 8 years and above, but although my 9yr old loved the gun and being able to rivet the pieces together, and I liked how the card pieces were labelled and the holes numbered to make it easier, I found the instructions were very unclear and confusing. More detailed instructions with more pictures might make it easier, as there was no way my son could understand them and even I struggled to make sense, often losing patience and having to come back to it another day. In the end I gave up trying to build it and asked my dad, who is a retired engineer and used to putting complex machinery back together to have a go, and he soon lost patience as well. It was certainly too hard for an 8 year old to build, and I bet even my teenaged nephews would struggle to decipher the instructions and have the patience to sit down and build it.

It's such a shame as I did like the idea and my son certainly liked the Rivetz gun and helping to rivet the parts together as well as loading the gun ready for the next time it was needed.

I feel that there is more that can be done with Rivetz kit, but that they need to be simplified a little more, perhaps less pieces and more detailed instructions with step-by-step photographs showing how and where a piece is connected.

Ultimately though, I have to be honest, and had I bought this for my son for Christmas I would have felt let down and that I had wasted my money because as it is, the Rivetz Racer is just too hard for a 9yr old to build. In fact it still isn't built now, as everyone loses interest and patience quickly and it gets put to one side until another day.

We were sent a copy of Rivetz Racer for free on the understanding I would write an honest review of what I thought about the product. I received no payment and the review is my own honest and unbiased opinion of the product and I retain full editorial control and integrity.

Craft Party Treasure Box Review

With new Craft Party kits from Interplay, mums, dads and party organisers have a new and inspirational way to create the coolest party for kids!

Hosting a party to remember is as easy as opening a box with Craft Party and with some great themes to choose from and more ideas in the pipeline, there's a perfect party for everyone.

Craft party kids are perfect for parties, playdates or get-together's, they're also a fantastic idea for Brownie, Rainbow or other groups where children get together, with plenty in each box to keep up to sic children entertained and the perfect alternative to a party bag - a make your own craft project for the guest to take home with them.

The Mad About Ponies Party kit is ideal for boys and girls aged 6-9. There's plenty of suggestions for party games and accessories to set the scene plus a Paint your own Pony gift to remember the occasion by.

As part of a fun game the party goers can use their hand crafted masterpieces in a show jumping challenge using the jumps and obstacles that come as part of the set. Ponies and horses are a favourite with this age group so what could be more fun and rewarding than an equine extravaganza to mark a child's very special day.

The Treasure Box Party is ideal for girls aged 4-7. Girls love to paint and decorate and they adore pretty things too, so why not combine both in one party activity to create their very own treasure box and bracelet.

Once the heart shaped treasure box is complete then a girl needs something to keep inside it; and this party has it covered with all that's needed to make a gorgeous charm bracelet too. With so much to take home, you could be forgiven for thinking it's everyone's birthday!

These are just the first titles in a collection that will be suitable for both boys and girls; making sure that hosting a child's birthday party is as easy as opening a box!

We were sent a copy of the Treasure Box Party and my daughters couldn't wait to invite a friend around and try it out. It's just a shame my 5yr old daughters birthday isn't until December as it would have been ideal to use for her actual party!

Each box contains;
6 heart boxes
6 pots of paint (3 of each colour)
6 paint brushes
100 self-adhesive jewels for sticking on the boxes
120 beads in 4 different colours (although we had 6)
6 assorted charms (Charms may differ, we had Love, starfish, dolphin, music note, feather and heart)
6 lengths of stretch cord
6 sheets of tissue paper
1 instruction sheet.

The boxes were easy to use and paint and the instructions were clear. They recommend sticking the jewels on first and then painting around them produced better looking results, but as the children using it were young they preferred to paint in block colours, which meant sticking the jewels on after painting was better. The paint only took a few minutes to dry and whilst they were waiting for the boxes, they made their charm bracelets (this needed a little adult help to tie knots in the cord).

All the children had great fun making their boxes and charms and my 5yr old's friend who came for tea, enjoyed taking her box and bracelet home and proudly showing her mum what she had made. A fantastic idea and is different from the usual party games and party bags. I would definitely use them again, especially as my children are getting older now and I don't want to go down the large party route anymore but smaller more intimate parties with just a few close friends!

We were sent Treasure Box Party for free on the understanding I would write an honest review of what I thought about the product. I recieved no payment and the review is my own honest and unbiased opinion of the product and I retain full editorial control and integrity.
